Council is seeking two suitably qualified applicants to fill the part-time roles of Animal Attendant – 1 x permanent part-time and 1 x temporary part-time.

About the Job

Are you an animal lover with a passion for making a difference? We have the perfect opportunity for you! As an Animal Attendant, you will be an essential member of our Ranger team, dedicated to the care and well-being of animals in our community.

In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning Council’s Companion Animal Shelter, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for the dogs and cats in our care. You will provide feeding and daily exercise, administration and assist in coordinating veterinary care and rehoming and adoption initiatives. You will undertake the release of impounded animals and acceptance of stray animals. You may also have the rewarding task of microchipping companion animals, helping them find their way home if they ever get lost.

Your responsibilities will also include managing general enquiries from staff and the public and educating the community on responsible pet ownership. We are looking for someone who is dedicated, compassionate, and ready to take on a variety of tasks to support our mission of promoting responsible pet ownership and a safer community.

About You

You have a deep love for animals and a genuine passion for their well-being. Working autonomously suits you, but you also enjoy being part of a team that shares your dedication. Your excellent communication and computer skills help you connect with both colleagues and the public, making every interaction meaningful.

With experience in handling companion animals, you ensure they receive the best care and comfort. You take pride in maintaining clean facilities and an understanding of the Companion Animals Act, which guides your work. Your outstanding of customer service delivery makes you approachable and helpful, always ready to assist and educate the community on responsible pet ownership. Your dedication and compassion shine through in everything you do, making you a perfect fit for our team.
